Glocal Gift Fall 2020 – Week Four – Kingdom Impact

Jonathan Richey   -

The power of glocal engagement through the Glocal Gift might be best voiced by those who’s lives have been impacted. Check out these encouraging words from some of our partners, as well as, a couple of stories of those we have helped who were in dire need. Let’s pray and decide how we can generously sacrifice financially to continue being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Testimonies from local partners

I would love to say thank you and acknowledge the volunteers from Trinity Life Church. The volunteers we have worked with from your church are constant champions to the St. James Town community. Their commitment, positive energy, flexibility and their passion to do whatever they are assigned to do, is an amazing act to generate positive impact. Please continue the good work with these extraordinary volunteers.

Norma, Program Coordinator for Seniors at Dixon Hall

When our Food Bank was forced to close recently due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trinity Life Church volunteers helped to move the food bank’s existing pantry items over to The New Common, where they helped set up a temporary food bank. The volunteers are very positive, kind, and helpful, and we are tremendously grateful for their support. When we were limited in our ability to minister and reach out to the surrounding neighbourhood due to circumstances beyond our control, Trinity Life Church volunteers have enabled the food bank to continue directly supporting our neighbours in this time of crisis.

Bill, Outreach Coordinator at Our Lady of Lourdes

Trinity Life and The New Common have been both a great and needed space as well as a group of dedicated and inspiring friends and colleagues in the neighbourhood. The feeling of fellowship and joy, as well as reflection and deep thought about community support and engagement were palpable and had such a positive impact on both the one-off events and the longer program we carried out with these partners. The volunteers we have worked with from your church are constant champions to the St. James Town community. Their commitment, positive energy, flexibility and their passion to do whatever they are assigned to do, is an amazing act to generate positive impact. Please continue the good work with these extraordinary volunteers.

Esther, Founder and Director at Illumine Media Project

“Board and staff members love the congregation and the neighbourhood. ’This is the place where we should be granting…I love the diversity of the church…I love how many people from the church are working or have worked in this project, this is the highest percentage of people working on a church ministry I have ever seen! I love how the church is ministering and blessing the people in addition to giving them food.’”

Benevolence Stories

SUPPORTING A YOUNG FAMILY
At the very beginning of the pandemic, we were able to help a young family. At the time we spoke to her, the mom had actually gone into labour and had to leave her first child with a neighbour. We were able to purchase groceries and home essentials for her in those first days after she got home from the hospital with the newborn.

HELPING A FAMILY COPE WITH A LOSS
The main household wage-earner passed away from serious health conditions. We were able to support the family by covering daily living expenses to lighten the sudden financial burden.
